A review on a post on legal from my E-Commerce blog

I had reviewed the post ‘UK to get tough with illegal downloader’. These days, people are always downloading copyrighted works like software, music, movies and games. The downloading underground for movies continues to grow. Common knowledge says that downloading copyrighted material is illegal and unethical.

Peer to peer file sharing programs, the most common method of music downloading today, are easily accessible and blur the line between copyright and open source and free material. So, downloader has no way of knowing what music is legal and what is copyrighted. It is practically impossible to enforce a sanction against the downloader.

Many young people see unauthorized music, movies and games are harmless and don’t fully understand its consequences. Illegal downloading presents a serious issue on entertainment industry and can be lead to less earning to the industry every year. By changing the people's behavior could be a welcome boost to the music industry which is going through some very troubled times. Illegal downloads could have negative consequences for your company’s computer. For example, if you use pirated software on your company's computer, the company may be held liable. Malware could be installed on you PC without your knowledge or explicit consent or it could be bundled with a program you intend to download.

UK government is working on a new law to have this illegal downloader's internet connection to be cut off. Under the new proposed new law, action will be taken against the users who use their account to access pirated material by the internet services provider. By this way, illegal downloading can be reduced.

A review on a post on e-tailing from my E-Commerce blog

Touch n Go card, famous for its usage as a pre-load cash card used mainly for transportation and toll collection, is now expanding their applications and services towards the retail purchase, starting with particularly the fast-food industry.

Due to e-tailing being such a widespread phenomenon, the competition is very competitive. The growth of e-tailing has created many advantages in ways to save money and provide convenience way to consumer. I had reviewed a post on e-tailing: Using Touch ‘n Go card to buy fast food in Malaysia will be a reality. We can buy such items from 21 outlets in the Klang Valley under a pilot scheme for the Touch ‘n Go card which is currently a toll, public transport and parking paying device. The outlets are from A&W, Burger King, Dunkin’ Donut, 7-Eleven, Carrefour hypermarkets, Caltex convenience stores and Cineleisure.
This would be good news to me and also to the customer. No need to carry cash and coins, just one Touch ‘n Go. Imagine buy fast food using Touch n’ Go, so convenient, just touch it and you can enjoy your food. Don’t have to worry even u has forgotten to bring money, as long as u have Touch ’n go card with you. Now we also no need to anxious when there are no parking lot and cant buy the food we want. Touch ‘n go help us solve this problem. The card is just like our touch ‘n go card and you need to give your card when u purchase fast food. This service can benefit the people who are in hurry and the card could also be a good way of controlling children's spending as this could be their one card from taking public transport to buying their lunch or snacks.

Electronic Currency

Electronic currency also know as electronic money, electronic cash or digital currency. It refers to money which is exchanged only electronically. Normally, it involves use of computer networds, the internet and digital stored value systems. For example, the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and Direct Deposit. It is also a collective term for financial cryptography and technologies enabling it. Nowadys, many companies that provide onlie payment can make through the electronic currency.

Besides, it is being able to use it through a wider range of hardware such as secured credit cards and linked bank accounts that would generally be used over an internet means, for exchange with a secure micropayment system such as in large corporations (Paypal). Paypal is an e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfer to be made through the Internet.

Electronic currency can provide many benefits such as convenience and privacy, increased efficiency of transactions, lower transaction fees, new business opportunities with the expansion of economic activities on the Internet. Although it have a lot of benefits but there are many potential problems with the use of it. One of the problems is the happen of the fraud. If a consumer somehow misplaces his private key and a perpetrator uses it to withdraw funds, the bank would never jnow and the consumer would be liable. For example, credit cards have limited the consumer’s liability for unauthorized activity to a certain amount. It is important to protect our security from the hacker. Although fraud is a potential drawback of electronic currency, this risk is no greater than the traditional forms of payment.

Thus, electronic currency is important as a payment through the Internet and is should be secure by the good security system.

Credit Card Debts : Causes and Prevention

From my personal knowledge of the credit card, it serves as if it was money and it would accumulate total money spent as debt when a client purchases an item or service by using this card. Debt increases as a result of interest and penalties are accumulated when the client does not pay the company the debt on time or dragging the payment. However, credit card was said to have bad operating system as it does not add interest to the respective debt precisely especially those late payment. In other words, it could be considered as a low-secured alternative of money.

Now I would like to share with you all about the causes and prevention for the credit card debts.

Causes:

Poor money management. A monthly financial plan is essential. Without it you have no idea where your money goes. You may be spending money unnecessarily and excessively each month and end up with bearing of heavy debt where interest is added in. Planning is not difficult as it involves reconciliation of your expenditure made and planned expenditure by taking your income into the planning. Gambling could be addictive, hard to stop and loans are easily available. Gambling is subject to high uncertainty and it might cause you to use credit card to solve your debt when being pressured by creditors. Saving too little or not at all, the simplest way to avoid unwanted debt is preparing for unexpected expenditures by saving money to support three to six months of living expenses. With a savings cushion in place, a job layoff, illness or divorce will not cause immediate financial strain and increase debt. You always hear, "Pay yourself first." Do it and it will grow and be there when you need it. No one has ever regretted having a savings cushion. No communication of financial matters. It is important to communicate with your spouse or significant people and your children about financial matters. Keep the communication going on and discuss financial goals and spending styles with them Financial Illiteracy. Many people don't understand how money works and grows, how to save and invest for a rainy day, or even why they should balance their checkbook. The schools don't teach it, your parents may not have sat you down and explained it. It doesn't matter. You are responsible for your life and your money anyway. Financial mistakes are increasingly expensive and complicated to resolve. Get educated and get in control.

Prevention of the credit card debt:

Photocopy the credit card offer, including the interest rate and terms. Create a letter to your credit card companies stating that you are thinking of switching to their competition because they are offering a far more reasonable interest rate. Credit card companies do not want to lose your business. Nine times out of ten they will match or even offer a lower rate than the competition has offered. If you can afford it, pay doubles the minimum payment. The minimum payment usually pays just enough to cover the interest and a little more that pays down the balance. Paying extra will pay your balance more quickly. Pay off smaller balances first. It is common for a person to try to focus on their cards with larger balances first. Pay off the smaller ones. It will take less time and you will feel a sense of satisfaction when you have actually completed your goal. This will boost your confidence and make it easier to tackle the higher balances. If you have equity in your home, look into paying off credit card debt with a refinance or fixed-rate home equity loan. Do not use a home equity line of credit, the rates will rise as the prime rises and suddenly you may find it impossible to keep up with your bills.

Mobile payment systems in Malaysia: Its potentials and consumers' adoption strategies

In Malaysia, mobile payment system is still considered a new system, however this system it is already very common in Japan. Mobile payment system in Malaysia is called Mobile Money and it was launched by Malaysia’s richest man, Mr Koay(Sugar King). The query is what is Mobile Money ?

Mobile Money system is:

1) A system allows users to pay bills by using hand phone via SMS (short message service) such as telephone bill, electricity bill, income tax.

2) Besides that, it is also a system functioning similar to credit card as we could make direct payment via hand phone when we purchase goods during shopping.

3) Additionally, it allows transferring of funds between users’ bank accounts via hand phone provided both sides have registered the system. For example, we could transfer money from our account to friend’s account when they need money urgently and withdraw it immediately at any nearby ATM machines.

4) This system is also very user-friendly as you can pay your bills anywhere anytime as its operating 24 hours by using hand phone.

Above definition is giving you briefly an idea about Mobile payment system in Malaysia (Mobile Money)

Now I would like to share my ideas about the implementation strategies of the mobile payment system in Malaysia.

The system implementation strategies:

1) This system communicates your bank account, Mobile Money bank account and your hand phone.

2) Next, funds need to be transferred to the Mobile Money company bank account from our bank account and the company will convert it into mobile money form and SMS to your hand phone. For example, you bank in RM 100 to Mobile Money Company then the company will send u a SMS.

3) In the SMS, the amount of money is displayed and you can use the money to pay any bill by sending SMS to certain number or operator. You can also buy reload card for Maxis, Digi and Celcom by using particular phone number

The treat of online security: How safe is our data?

The world is kept on changing rapidly and improving every minute, many things can be done easily by using internet. Nowadays, computer has become part of our life no matter is a student or worker even housewife also will using computer to spend their leisure time.

Computer has became the best place to store our data and information but it also raise the issue that hacker who create virus or tools to hack into company’s computer in order to get those confidential data. Normally, the hackers will spread viruses through e-mail attachment and those viruses are being hid by hacker inside the documents. In fact, visiting the site may also attacked by the virus. Those viruses can be categorized into Trojan horse, worm, spy ware and etc.

Many internet users display more of their personal information on social networking web sites, and office workers upload more sensitive data to online software programs, it makes computer hackers devise small attacks that can fly under the radar of traditional security software to pry that information loose. As a result, the personal information of the users may be embezzled and the undisclosed financial data may be stolen by hackers because those intellectual properties can be sold for a lot of money.

Even if you connected to the internet only to play games or send email to friends and family, your computer may be a target. It is because hackers or crackers may be able to cause damage to your computer by changing your data or reformatting your hard drive. Also, some software applications have default settings that allow other users to access your computer. For example, web browsers could allow someone to place harmful programs on your computer that run when you click on them.

On my opinion, users should be careful when access to internet and do not simply give away any sensitive personal information like account number, log-in information via e-mail or instant message or password. This blog may affect your confidence to the online transaction, but if we properly safeguard our data, the security of internet is still considering as reasonably secured.

Phishing: Examples and its prevention methods

In computing, phishing is an attempt to criminally and fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords and credit card details. Phishing is typically carried out by e-mail or instant messaging, and often directs users to enter details at a website, although phone contact has also been used. PayPal, eBay and online banks are the common targets.

Examples: Paypal

In an example PayPal phish (right), spelling mistakes in the e-mail and the presence of an IP address in the link are both clues that this is a phishing attempt. Another giveaway is the lack of a personal greeting, although the presence of personal details would not be a guarantee of legitimacy. Other signs that the message is a fraud are misspellings of simple words and the threat of consequences such as account suspension if the recipient fails to comply with the message’s requests.
There are some methods to prevent phishing (anti-phishing):

1. DON’T use the links in an instant message, an email or chat to get to any web page it you suspect the message might not be authentic or you don’t know the sender or user’s handle.
2. Ensure that your browser is UP TO DATE and SECURITY patches applied
3. Regularly check your bank, credit and debit card statements to ensure that all transactions are legimate. DON’T leave it for as long as a month before you check each account.
4. Regularly LOG into your online accounts
5. AVOID ensure that you’re using a secure website when submitting credit card or other sensitive information via your Web browser.
6. AVOID filling out forms in e-mail messages that ask for personal financial information
7. Be SUSPICIOUS of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information
Example: phishers always will show some upsetting phrases to make victims react immediately in order to acquire their information. Beware of any suspicious e-mail unless the email is digitally signed.
8. Be SUSPICIOUS of impersonal emails such as Bank of America, Bank of Montreal and the ANZ Bank of Australia.
9. NEVER fill out forms in email messages that ask for personal financial information.

As a conclusion, the damage caused by phishing ranges is from denial of access to email to substantial financial loss. Be careful out there!!!

A review on a post on Internet Security from My E-Commerce blog

http://ecommerze.blogspot.com/search/label/Internet%20Security
From My E-Commerce Blog that I review Impact-to fight cyber terrorism reminds me that internet security is the most important aspect that I should understand when using internet. With more people utilizing computers for personal and business transactions, the threat of cyber criminals is raising and the security threat also become so common. New threats surface almost daily, and we need to guard against them.

Taking a few precautions on computer can help to ensure that we do not fall victim to cyber criminals. There are a number of anti virus software packages to choose from of course, and it can often be difficult to know which ones are the best. There are a number of important things to look for when shopping for the perfect anti virus software protection.

For me one of the most important considerations when it comes to anti virus software is the quality of the company that makes the software. After all, the quality of the anti virus software is only as good as the company standing behind it. It is vital that the company protecting your computer have a long history of success in the computer security market. No matter what your main considerations, it is important to get your virus protection up and running as soon as possible. Whether you use the anti virus software that came with your computer or buy your own, it is absolutely essential to have a quality anti virus software program up and running before you start surfing the web.

How to safeguard our personal and financial data?

There are many ways to safeguard your computer personal and financial data. One of there was use tools such as anti-virus software, as you can to guard your computer information. Anti-virus software can help you to guard user accounts from malicious viruses. It also can eliminate users wasted effort and productivity from removing viruses from their computer or servers and lost data. Furthermore, protect intellectual property from damage by viruses and can protect your reputation by stopping the spread of viruses via email to customers. So, you must keep update your anti-virus frequently.

Besides, you must choose your PIN number wisely. While you want to choose something you will remember, you do not want it to be something that a clever thief could figure out just by learning your birth date or your child's name. A combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols will offer you more security.

Sometime, you should not simply allow anyone access to personal data unless they specifically require access. You should be wary of emails requesting information. Attackers may attempt to gather information by sending emails requesting that you confirm purchase or account information. So, you should not simply send it to anyone else.

Discuss how E-commerce can reduce cycle time, improve employees’ empowerment and facilitate customer support.

E-commerce has had a huge impact in our lives. It has capability to reduce cycle time. If you need insurance you can get this over the web, if you need to do grocery shopping you can order over the internet and if you need any electrical appliance, books or DVDs you can buy from an online store like Amazon. It can be faster and more convenient. E-commerce can enhance transactional purchasing by providing end users with quick and easy to use electronic systems such as electronic catalogues for selecting and purchasing their requirement from preferred suppliers. Purchases can be made in seconds via a few clicks of the mouse vs. traditional shopping that involves traveling to stores, parking, searching for products, standing in check-out lines, etc.

With e-commerce, employees' empowerment can improve. Employees can respond quickly to customer requests to satisfy customers. It also enables employees finding the right information, keeping the information in a readily accessible place, and making the information known to everyone in the firm. Autonomous decision making can make by the employee without consulting a boss or manager.

E-commerce can help to facilitate customer support such as provide mail-in service. The manufacturer will repair your equipment if you mail it in. Typical turnaround time is about four day. For example, Intel Company provides phone numbers and mailing addresses for contacting Intel Customer Support worldwide to customers. If customers meet the troubles, they can mail to the company thus help to fix the customer problem. E-commerce creates a simple and convenience way for customer to purchase goods and services. On line site are time consuming compared to the traditional store. Customers can direct get the latest informations and promotions by visiting online stores.

An example of an E-Commerce failure and its causes

is a place whereby buyers and sellers trade almost anything to each other. E-Bay is the world’s online marketplace. Almost every one is familiar with E-Bay because almost everywhere you can see the advertisement for example you can see it when u search around in internet. Even you can know it from your friend and relative. E-Bay is the most popular online marketplace amount all. Even a primary school student knows about it and search around to get what they want. A lot of secondary student try to do some business to earn some pocket money through E-Bay. From the brief definition above, I am sure you can know how powerful and how famous E-Bay world is.

You can access E-Bay website through here !

To be successful everything, there has to work on Marketing, Sales, Quality, Pricing, and Customer Service. However, there also have some reasons why eBay businesses fail.

Here are the top Three reasons why E-Bay businesses fail:

1) Not Accepting Credit Cards Turns Away Bidders
Thousands of bidders worry about Internet fraud. Several studies by eBay and Yahoo have positively concluded that accepting credit cards will increase your auction bids anywhere from 100% to 300%. This is even truer on web site sales, where accepting credit cards can boost sales over 500%! However, the E-Bay does not accepting credit cards payment.

2) Weak Headlines and Poor Auction Description Lose Bids
There are over seven million items listed on eBay every day. Your headline must stand out above the competition to attract bidders. A great headline should contain two key elements: "Key words" that are searchable, and "emotional words" designed to attract attention.Your headline should also include "emotional" words designed to attract a bidder's attention. These words include: new, rare, unique, sexy, secret, unbelievable, super-value, etc. You should not call something "rare" if it is not. But, there are other adjectives that work well in headlines. Besides the emotional words you can use words such as exquisite, charming, wonderful, mint, perfect, clean, superb, etc. Just make sure you are accurate.

3) Poor Images Can Turn Off Sellers
The saying "A picture is worth a thousand words" is never more true than with on-line auctions. Not having a photo of your item will greatly reduce your bids, and lead to unprofitable or unsuccessful auctions. Not only must you have a photograph of what you are selling, the photo must be accurate and revealing.

An example of an E-commerce success and its causes

was launched in 1995. It is an American electronic commerce (e-commerce) company in Seattle, Washington.Amazon.com was one of the first major companies to sell goods by Internet. It is known for its candid reviews and its capabilities for recommending products to its customers. It has come out with the slogan “…and you're done”.

Below are the causes that Amazon.com success in e-commerce

1.A popular feature of Amazon.com is the ability for users to submit reviews to the web page of each product. As part of their review, users must rate the product on a rating scale from one to five stars. Such rating scales provide a basic idea of the popularity and dependability of a product. The review feature is an important and highly influential function for customers and one of the main reasons for Amazon.com success at selling books. As with book reviews anywhere, the buyer must beware that all reviewers have bias. Under normal circumstances, reviews give the reader at least a modest basis for evaluating a given book.

2. Quality is necessary in everyday life and business. Amazon.com "remains the leader among e-tailers" in customer satisfaction according to theAmerican Customer Satisfaction Index's fourth-quarter 2007 survey. The key to Amazon.com's success is a strong focus on customer.Amazon always introduce new and unique products to keep the customers coming back as there is no entry barriers on the Internet. Amazon.com is really strong about thinking about customer need. Amazon.com able offering competitive prices, straightforward web design and friendly interface and convenient payment system to the customer. There are lists millions of unique items in categories such as electronics, kitchen and housewares, books, music, DVDs, videos, photography equipment, toys, software, computer and video games, tools and hardware, outdoor living and wireless products can be choose by the customer.

3. Amazon.com has significantly grabbed the electronic business by selling its online books and now electronic items and other stuff. Nonetheless the effective management and consumer identification in the market lead Amazon.com to achieve tremendous success in the filed of e-commerce. It in true sense made business via Internet a wealthy way to improve profits and increase revenues. The strategy to work better and adopting a strong base of selling products marks Amazon different from the rest of the e-commerce organizations.

The History and Evolution of E-commerce

Nowadays, e-commerce have become very important as part of our lives. Most of us make business transactions online on such a regular basis that it is difficult to imagine a time when you were not able to do so. Despite this, the history of e-commerce is actually a relatively short history. It began less than fifty years ago and its humble beginnings look nothing like the kind of electronic business transactions that we see today. Even up until the 1990’s, online business wasn’t a reality for the average person.

E-commerce mean the buying and selling of goods and services over the Internet. The development of electronic commerce (E-commerce) has change over the time. Preliminary, it refers to any commerce that takes place electronically. This includes ATM and credit card transactions as well as the ability to do billing and invoicing through electronic methods. it took hold until the late 1970's and grew steadily throughout the 1980's. During this time, many people started to use credit cards on a regular basic and that set the foundation for e-commerce to get a toehold in society. From the 1990 year onwards, electronic commerce would additionally include enterprise resource planning systems (ERP), data mining and data warehousing.

In 1995, Amazon and eBay were launched and really to start their business through out the Internet. Both eBay and Amazon paved the way for today's e-commerce merchant. Consumers can buy almost anything online, including shoes, home goods and even a real shark's tooth.

Until now, e-commerce has become wide known by everyone. Most of the student of the University and College has the need to learn to e-commerce as it is important to improve out knowledge. Just like my University—University Tunku Abdul Rahman, the E-commerce is one of my main subject in this semester. So, it is necessary for everyone to learn it.

For some information, this is the video of the e-commerce for evolution. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW4X3b_j0eE
